Hagerstown Aviation Museum to Host Special Reception (Feb. 25th 2pm-4pm, Hagerstown Aircraft Services)

Donation of Three Additional Historic Aircraft To Be Announced!

(HAGERSTOWN, Md) — The Hagerstown Aviation Museum is hosting a special reception on Sunday, February 25, 2007. Museum members and donors who helped secure the return of the Fairchild C–82 Flying Boxcar to Hagerstown are invited to attend, as well as other aviation enthusiasts.

Frank Lamm, who piloted the historic return flight home, will recall the adventurous and emotional flight. A large screen presentation of museum history, auction purchase and return flight of the C–82 will be shown. Tours of the C–82 will be available, weather permitting, and other museum aircraft will be on display in the hangar.

The community helped raise the $140,000 needed to purchase the C–82. That has inspired the donation of three additional historic aircraft to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. The details of these donations will be announced at the reception.

The after-purchase costs for repairing and returning the C–82 have been significant. The Hagerstown Aviation Museum needs additional funds to return the three donated aircraft to Hagerstown. Continued support from the community is being sought to preserve and maintain Hagerstown's aviation history.

The reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hagerstown Aircraft Services facility located near the airport off Route 11 North at 14235 Oak Springs Road, Hagerstown, Turn on Basore Drive off of Route 11 near Tony's Pizza. Look for the signs. Light refreshments will be served.
